Geneviève is an performer, creator, playwright, and producer who lives in Whitehorse, Yukon on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council.
Geneviève was born in Venezuela and grew up in Belgium and the Netherlands before heading to Montreal for her post-secondary studies. She graduated from l’Université de Montréal in Film studies and comparative literature and completed an acting degree at L’École Supérieure de Théâtre of l’Université du Québec à Montréal. In 2011, she escaped the big city and ended up in the Yukon territory where she has lived ever since.
Geneviève is the Co Artistic Director of Open Pit Theatre, the playwright behind Busted Up: A Yukon Story and she is currently co-creating a new production which will premiere in 2022 at the Yukon Arts Centre. She has created, performed, and toured coast to coast with other creation companies such as Ramshackle Theatre and Gwaandak Theatre. This winter, Geneviève is grateful to be the one of the artists in residency at the JenniHouse in Whitehorse to work on a new multi-media project.
When she’s not creating theatre, she is very likely hiking, boating or skiing somewhere – exploring mountains and rivers with her kids.
