Theatre Direct hosts a panel at the Children, Youth and Performance Conference (York University) on June 27 at 2pm EST. “Balancing Act: Negotiating Competing Identities of Caregivers in the Arts” will be facilitated by Lisa Marie Di Liberto, Artistic Director of Theatre Direct. Panelists include steering committee members Sarah Cullen (MOTHRA), Ruth Howard (Jumblies Theatre), Susie Burpee (Balancing Act), Ella Cooper (Black Women Film), and Lisa Karen Cox (Ryerson University).
This panel discusses “Balancing Act”, a sector-innovation project that reframes the way people think about, and work with, caregivers in the arts, bringing together researchers, artists and theatre companies to discuss different models of working and their impact on artists and their families.
The Children, Youth and Performance Conference is an exchange of knowledge between researchers, performers, educators, practitioners and community organizers. Through a range of informative and interactive sessions, participants will discuss the present and future applications and implications of performance work with, by, for, and about children and youth. There will be a range of online panels, performances, and workshops spread out during the three conference days (June 25th to 27th, 2021).
