About Company 605
Location: British Columbia
Artistic Discipline: Dance
Operating Budget: $100,000 to $1,000,000
Company 605 is an arts organization based in Vancouver, on the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations, producing dance projects, performances, and films through shared creative process. 605 is an ongoing exchange between separate people, bodies and ideas, with each project recognizing and celebrating its own unique form of togetherness.
605’s creations, performances, and experiments within their programming, build spaces to house deeper artistic interrogation of process, and the culture of dance-making — the form, working environments, presentation models, relationships between dance and its intended public, and its place in our social climate.
Company 605 continues to transform, building on an ever-evolving aesthetic, with multiple choreographic voices in pursuit of a collaborative art form derived from the human experience.
Company 605’s Level UP! Project
Project lead Lisa Mariko Gelley, Artistic Co-director of Company 605, focused on building a company-specific framework around low-barrier access to care funds and wrap-around support, as well as researching the creation of a care policy.
Project Highlights:
- Developing written statements from care statements that have been previously communicated verbally, in person
- Trialing a “5% of total earnings offer” as a childcare honorarium for a parent artist
