imagineNATIVE is a registered charity committed to creating a greater understanding of Indigenous peoples and cultures through the presentation of contemporary Indigenous-made media art including film, video, audio and digital media. imagineNATIVE is Indigenous-led, with the three leadership positions filled by Indigenous people, and an Indigenous majority Board of Directors. The organization strives to present artists and art works that reflect the communities it is rooted in, creating a dialogue and honest conversations that empower community, educate curious audiences, and propel these stories globally.

imagineNATIVE’s Level UP! Project

To better support parents and caregivers attending the annual imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival, festival organizers piloted a free childcare program for artists, industry professionals, and guests. This initiative made it easier for attendees to stay engaged in festival activities while knowing their children were nearby in a safe, engaging space.

imagineNATIVE partnered with The Summerhill Club, who provided experienced childcare workers for the event. A large meeting room just outside the imagineNATIVE offices was transformed into a vibrant childcare space called Seedlings. The room was stocked with toys, games, arts and crafts supplies, as well as drinks and snacks to keep children entertained and comfortable.

Project Highlights:

    • With support from The Summerhill Club, Indigenous childcare providers were contracted for the festival.
