Imago Theatre is a professional feminist theatre company, a catalyst for conversation, and an advocate for gender-inclusive storytelling.

Imago’s work is committed to pushing boundaries, expanding form, and engaging in essential dialogue about urgent social issues. They centre feminist values, perspectives, and artistic practices within diverse stories, voices, and experiences.

Imago Theatre’s Level UP! Project

Imago’s Level UP! project focused on piloting a Care Fund, which allocated funding to artists and arts workers engaged in three projects: Nested Circles, Imago’s season-long Newcomer Artist Residency; Imago/Zee Zee’s Queer and Trans National Playwriting Unit workshop; and The Flood by Leah Simone Bowen, a production featuring challenging content.

The project was led by Imago’s team members: Krista Jackson, Artistic and Executive Director; Murdoch Schon, Associate Artistic Director; Danielle Lauin, Managing Producer; Danna-Rae Evasiuk, Communications Director; Leni Krivy, Associate Artist; and Adjani Poirier, Associate Artist.

Project Highlights:

    • Developing a public-facing Commitment to Care statement, which includes outlines a variety of pathways leading to a discussion of artist needs
    • Engaging Katey Wattam, a trauma-informed theatre consultant to support The Flood’s artistic team
    • Creating an Access Guide and other supports for audience members, including a chill-out space and an Audience Support Document with grounding tools
