lemonTree creations is an equity-seeking theatre company that brings rarely told stories to the stage.
lemonTree centres artists making work informed by their lived experience and presents them through a queer performance lens. The company’s creative process includes decolonial and anti-racist strategies in the pursuit of equity for Indigenous and culturally diverse communities.
The leadership team includes Artistic Producers, Indrit Kasapi (Albanian-Canadian) and Carmen Alvis (Métis), and Artistic Associates, Donna-Michelle St. Bernard and Ryan G. Hinds.
lemonTree creations’ Level UP! Project
As part of a co-production with Tarragon Theatre, lemonTree created a Compassion Fund to support the creative team of Three Fingers Back by Donna-Michelle St. Bernard. The fund was established to offer additional support to the artists involved, as the production addresses themes of violence and sexual violence. This support was essential to help mitigate the physical and emotional toll that embodying these difficult stories can have on the artists.
