Good Women Dance Collective (GWDC) is an artist-driven collective committed to supporting a vibrant, sustainable and inclusive dance community in Amiskwaciy Waskahikan, Edmonton, Alberta. The collective’s artistic focus is on creating, commissioning and producing innovative contemporary works that simultaneously challenge and expand our audience. GWDC also dedicates a large part of its season toward partnering with local organizations to offer performance, educational, and professional development opportunities. We aim to prioritize diversity, inclusion and gender equity with a focus on collaborative approaches to dance that stimulate artistic growth in Alberta. Current artistic members include: Deviani Andrea Bonilla, Alida Kendell, Alison Kause, Rebecca Sadowski, and Molly McDermott.

Good Women Dance Collective’s Level UP! Project

Good Women focused on creating a framework that states their commitment to being a care-centered organization and includes a wrap-around Care Policy with a procedure for requesting support for project artists. Artistic member Alida Kendell worked closely with HR Arts Consultant Jeanne LeSage on this project.

Project Highlights:

    • Outlining clear procedures of support and offering a Support Request Form
    • Relating this framework to the collective’s values and other supports like access
