2b theatre company strives to stimulate the mind and awaken the spirit by producing theatre that is innovative and challenging. Based in Kjipuktuk/Halifax, NS, 2b theatre creates, produces, presents, and tours their original work nationally and internationally: their shows have been performed in 64 cities, in 13 countries, and on five continents. 2b theatre’s work is part of the evolution of contemporary theatre aesthetics, creating vital, innovative, and rigorous original pieces that challenge what theatre is and what it can be. 2b theatre is also an incubator, central to a thriving national theatre community, that offers a range of creation, performance, and production opportunities for arts professionals from the region and beyond.

2b theatre company’s Level UP! Project

Throughout the 2022–2023 season, 2b theatre provided childcare and compassionate support for artists and audience members, throughout development and rehearsal processes, home performances, and touring. As part of this pathway to compassionate support, 2b theatre created a Wellness and Access Form for artists during the process of onboarding. Louisa Adamson, Managing Director; Jacob Sampson, Associate Artistic Director; Chelsea Dickie, Outreach and Administration Manager; Olivia Rankin, Operations and Company Manager; and Rebecca Desmarais, Director of Touring, all contributed to the work of this Level UP! pilot.
